21 November 2019, Singapore – The fourth edition of the JobsCentral Learning Training and Education Development (T.E.D.) Awards celebrated 15 winners who are leaders in skills development last evening. For the first time, JobsCentral Learning also partnered with Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the international body for talent, on the judging and awards process. The T.E.D. Awards 2019 night, held at the Westin Singapore, saw winners across categories comprising of course providers for food and beverage, IT, psychology, accounting as well as tourism and hospitality.

The JobsCentral Learning T.E.D. Awards recognises local education and short-term course providers such as Private Education Institutes (PEIs) and Corporate Training Providers (CTP).

Awards processed with Experts in Talent Management and Industry Leaders

“We are pleased to partner with SHRM as our Knowledge and Process partner for the T.E.D. Awards 2019. SHRM is recognised as the global authority for best-in-class human resource (HR) subject matters. It plays a key role in supporting HR professionals to elevate and advance the practice of talent management. With their repository of research and experience across industries, it further distinguishes the recognition of our JobsCentral Learning T.E.D. Awards,” added Mr Vinay Dua, Managing Director, CareerBuilder Singapore, the parent company for JobsCentral Singapore.

Ms Achal Khanna, CEO SHRM India and Business Head, APAC & MENA said, “The JobsCentral Learning Training & Education Development Awards is a great platform to encourage and recognise applicants that are making a true difference in this very fast changing learning landscape. We are excited about our synergistic partnership with CareerBuilder, for these coveted awards in Singapore.”

This year’s T.E.D. Awards also saw a panel of seven distinguished judges who are leaders in their respective fields, weighing in on the process of judging. The three key criteria include: Innovation in the Initiative, Impact on the Stakeholders and, Sustainability and Scalability.

The judging process reviewed each institution’s originality in creating the courses, including design, delivery and tracking of the programme with metrics. It also measured the business and strategic impact created by taking the course as it is important that the courses provided value to the respective target audience.

Nimble and Adaptable workforce for tough climate

“Despite the economic climate, we see the PEI and CTP industry still showing growth in the past year. It is during this crunch time when upskilling is most essential for future talents to be adaptable. The T.E.D. Awards 2019 celebrates that aspiration to stay relevant to the market needs,” said Mr Dua.

“We are pleased to recognise these 15 esteemed winners who have made an impact with their courses. The workforce of today is continually equipped with their innovation in higher education,” he added.

Future-proof in the Present

Singapore’s strategic position as the hub in the Asia Pacific and ASEAN region continues to offer opportunities to current and potential stakeholders of these courses. The breadth of programmes provided by PEIs and CTPs show that many stakeholders still view further education and skills development as an essential part of their career advancement.

While the Ministry of Manpower’s latest figures show a dip in job vacancies available, JobsCentral Learning Portal reports a 39 per cent increase in short term course enquiries year-on-year. This shows the appetite for upgrading and training to take on more at the workplace.

Course providers who continually reinvent and improvise their courses and rising to market needs will also find their programmes sought after by such enterprising or driven individuals.

Winners At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy and PSB Academy were lauded for their inventive courses that piqued stakeholders looking to substantiate their learning in various fields.

Said Mr Ives Tay, Deputy Director of Academics, At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy, “The awards are an endorsement to the effort and passion of all staff, faculty members and industry partners in advancing our global education mission. Our institution plants the seed for innovation and business thinking from the first day our students arrive, and this drives how they present themselves and their creations to peers, industry partners and our International Faculty. It is At-Sunrice’s commitment to provide aspiring chefs and F&B professionals with transferable skills across the food sector and a learning experience that is future-proof.”

Dr Sam Choon Yin, Dean of PSB Academy added, “PSB Academy strives to design programmes that are industry-relevant. We will definitely continue to create courses that are applicable for each industry. This way, we can produce graduates who are equipped and career-ready.
This recognition from JobsCentral Learning T.E.D. Awards will spur us on to continually improve our courses that will in turn set up our workforce to become adaptive to the industry.”
